The made in USA question
The mirror image, and it deserves the same skepticism.
A US origin marking does not by itself indicate a demanding specification either. It tells you where assembly or manufacture occurred and nothing about what was required.
Country of origin labeling rules also vary. A part assembled in one country from components made elsewhere may carry a surprising marking.
Made in China is not evidence of a poor part. Made in USA is not evidence of a good one.
Both tell you where a step happened, which is not the same as what standard was applied.
Where origin does carry information
Two narrow cases, to be fair to the concern.
Inconsistency with the brand’s own statements. If a manufacturer states a part is produced in one place and the box says another, that is worth investigating as a possible counterfeit.
No origin marking at all, alongside no importer details and no manufacturer address. Absence of information is itself a signal.

What to actually do
- Judge the brand and the channel, which are the variables that carry information.
- Treat an implausible price as the warning, since real manufacturing has a floor cost.
