What to avoid

Hitting the hub face directly with a steel hammer. It deforms the flange and the damage is not visible until the rotor wobbles.
Levering behind the flange with a pry bar. Same outcome, and it can also damage the knuckle face.
Driving the vehicle to shock it loose. This gets suggested with the bolts out, and it is genuinely dangerous.
On some designs a driveshaft can be shocked backward through the hub. Use a soft faced drift on the shaft end, with the nut left on loosely to protect the threads.
That loads the shaft along its axis rather than the flange sideways, which is a different thing from hitting the hub.
When a hub removal tool is not the answer
Two situations where reaching for more force is the wrong move.
A bolt still in place. Worth checking twice, since a hidden fastener behind a shield accounts for a fair share of immovable hubs.
Something else still connected. A sensor bracket, a brake line clip, or a shield tab holding the assembly.
Both are cheaper to check than to overcome, and both are more common than people expect.
