The short version

  • An XF wheel bearing on the 2009 cars splits on the length of the ABS sensor cord.
  • 513411 is cited with a 33.74 inch cord and 513371 with a 35.43 inch cord, in the same model year.
  • From 2010 the front consolidates to 513371 and the question goes away.
  • The XFR-S takes its own number, 513410, separately from the standard cars.

Two vehicles on this entire site are decided by a piece of cable. This is one of them. The other is the Ford Expedition.

Measure the cord

Under two inches decides it

On the 2009 cars, 513411 is cited with a 33.74 inch cord and 513371 with a 35.43 inch cord.

Measure from the hub face to the connector on the part you are removing.

Order the short one for a car that needs the long one and it will not reach. The Expedition version is on its own page.

The performance version is listed apart

XFR-S takes 513410

The high output version is cited separately from every standard car of the same years.

That follows the pattern set by the Mercedes AMG models and the Mustang damper package.

The make overview is on the Jaguar page.

Why a splice is not the answer

A wheel speed sensor sends a small signal the control module reads at speed, and it is sensitive to resistance and interference.

A splice in that circuit becomes an intermittent fault rather than a fix. Get the right length.

That is on the ABS light page.

Heavy, quiet and on large wheels

These are heavy and very well insulated, which is a poor combination for hearing a bearing early.

Most left the factory on large diameter wheels with short sidewalls, and a taller wheel is a longer lever on the hub.

Those are on the vehicle weight page and the spacers page.

Diagnosing an XF wheel bearing

  1. Measure the ABS cord on a 2009 before ordering.
  2. Check whether it is an XFR-S, which is listed separately.
  3. Drive with the windows down, because the cabin hides early noise.
  4. Weave at road speed and note which side loads the noise.
  5. Scan for wheel speed codes, since the sensor is part of the hub.

Those are on the checking page and the tire noise page.

Common questions

Which XF wheel bearing fits a 2009?

Measure the ABS cord. 33.74 inches is 513411 and 35.43 inches is 513371.

How do I measure it?

From the hub face to the connector, on the part you are taking off.

What about a 2012?

513371 covers the front from 2010 onward.

Is the XFR-S different?

Yes, 513410, separately from the standard cars.

Can I splice the wrong one?

Not sensibly. The sensor circuit is low signal and a splice becomes an intermittent fault.

Do I need a press?

No. These use bolt on hub units.

Should I replace both sides?

Only what is worn.

About this page

Wheel Bearing Editorial Team The Wheel Bearing Editorial Team researches, builds and edits wheelbearing.net. Every part number on the site is transcribed from manufacturer and distributor catalogs (Moog, Timken, SKF, National, BCA/NTN) rather than generated, and every vehicle page is checked against the catalog rows before it goes live. When two catalogs disagree, the page shows both readings and tells you to match the old part or the VIN. More about how this site is built.
