The short version

  • Trim decides nearly every Lancer wheel bearing on the 2002 to 2007 cars. ES runs one set, the sportier trims another, AWD a third.
  • ES fronts are 510021, superseded into 510061. LS, SE, O-Z Rally, Ralliart and Sportback fronts are 510079.
  • From 2008 the chart splits again by drivetrain: base front wheel drive cars, a plain AWD trim that predates it, and the Evolution.
  • The 2003 to 2006 AWD hubs, 513133 and 512181, are not Evolution parts. The Evolution gets its own numbers starting in 2008.

Mitsubishi turned one compact into a parts labyrinth. The badge on the trunk lid of a Lancer is not decoration, it is fitment data.

This Lancer wheel bearing chart runs from 2002 to 2017. The drivetrain matters as much as the trim once the car reaches 2008.

AWD alone does not mean Evolution, and Evolution alone does not mean the earlier AWD hub. Reading the trim badge is only the first step.

Read the trim badge first

Three families of parts, 2002 to 2007

An ES Lancer wheel bearing runs 510021 or its successor 510061 up front with the 512276 rear. Every sportier front wheel drive trim, LS, SE, O-Z Rally, Ralliart and Sportback, presses in 510079.

Their rears then split again: 512277 for most, 512339 for Ralliart and Sportback.

Body style and trim level travel together on these years, so checking one usually confirms the other. A wagon badge and a sedan badge rarely take the same rear.

AWD is not one thing on this car

The 2003 to 2006 AWD hub is not an Evolution part

513133 front and 512181 rear cover the regular AWD trim from 2003 to 2006. That is a different drivetrain variant from the Evolution’s AWD system.

Both cars say AWD on the same badge, but the hardware underneath is not shared. The Evolution gets its own numbers starting in 2008: 513300 or WE61414 up front, WE60512 or 512382 at the rear.

Do not carry the 2003 to 2006 pair onto an Evolution, and do not carry the Evolution numbers backward onto the earlier AWD trim. The two systems never shared a catalog line.

A shop that hears AWD and reaches for one number is guessing. Ask the trim and the model year before either number leaves the shelf.

Lookups run through the cross reference page. Twenty rows is a lot to scan by eye, so start from the year and narrow by trim from there.

Every model year this chart resolves: 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Mitsubishi Lancer pages by year range

The 2008 and 2009 base front carries two different listings

510090 and WE60374 both cover the front wheel drive, non-Evolution front for 2008 and 2009, printed by two different catalogs. WE60374 continues on through 2017 while 510090 is only cited for those first two years.

Match the number the old part carries rather than assuming one catalog is wrong. The same principle applies to the ABS split rear numbers, where a second catalog prints a parallel listing for the same fitment.

Why trims diverge this much

Brakes and suspension, not just trim level

The sporty trims carried bigger brakes and different rear suspension details. The Sportback wagon added its own load rating on top of that.

Each change moved the bearing spec, and the catalogs recorded all of it faithfully. That is why LS, SE and O-Z Rally share one rear while Ralliart and Sportback take another.

The hardware underneath changed even when the badge did not always say so. A trim walk around the car settles more than a glance at the year sticker ever will.

The 2008 reset, more documented than before

New platform, and now a fuller chart

The 2008 onward Lancer starts over with the 510090 or WE60374 front for base, non-Evolution cars. WE60374 extends the coverage all the way to 2017.

The rear splits by ABS through 2009, then simplifies to one FWD number from 2010 on. The Evolution runs its own front and rear numbers from 2008 through at least 2011, kept apart from both the base FWD chart and the earlier 2003 to 2006 AWD pair.

Diagnosing a Lancer wheel bearing

  1. Read the trim badge and the body style before anything else.
  2. Confirm the drivetrain, since front wheel drive, the regular AWD trim and the Evolution all take different parts.
  3. Check for ABS on a 2008 or 2009 rear.
  4. Weave at speed and place the hum.
  5. Rock each wheel at twelve and six.

The routine is on the checking page, and press logistics on the press-in page. A grind that changes with cornering load is worth reading against the tire noise page before ordering anything.

Front and rear jobs differ enough to be worth reading the front versus rear page first. A hard hit on a pothole is also worth ruling in or out, covered on the pothole page.

Common questions

Which Lancer wheel bearing fits my front?

It depends on trim, year and drivetrain. ES cars take 510061, the successor to 510021, and sporty front wheel drive trims take 510079. From 2008 onward, base cars take 510090 or WE60374.

Does this cover the Evolution?

From 2008 onward yes, with 513300 or WE61414 up front and WE60512 or 512382 at the rear through 2011. Earlier Evolution years are not separately broken out here, since the 2003 to 2006 AWD row covers the regular AWD trim only.

What is the difference between the 2003 to 2006 AWD hub and the Evolution’s?

513133 and 512181 cover the regular AWD Lancer, not the Evolution. The Evolution runs its own reinforced hardware under its own numbers, starting in 2008.

Why does my rear number change between 2009 and 2010?

The 2008 and 2009 base rear splits by ABS, WE60472 or 512394 with it, WE60471 or 512376 without. From 2010 the catalogs settle on one number, WE60472 or 512394.

Do I need a press?

For front wheel drive fronts, yes. The Evolution, the 2003 to 2006 AWD hubs and every rear on this chart bolt on.

About this page

Wheel Bearing Editorial Team The Wheel Bearing Editorial Team researches, builds and edits wheelbearing.net. Every part number on the site is transcribed from manufacturer and distributor catalogs (Moog, Timken, SKF, National, BCA/NTN) rather than generated, and every vehicle page is checked against the catalog rows before it goes live. When two catalogs disagree, the page shows both readings and tells you to match the old part or the VIN. More about how this site is built.
