Home › Vehicles › Scion › Scion xA Wheel Bearing Part Numbers

The short version

  • The Scion xA wheel bearing part is a hub assembly. Front is HA590165, rear is HA594245.
  • Timken groups the xA with the xB under one catalog range. The two platforms are not interchangeable past 2006.
  • An optional ball bearing front number, 510062, is listed as an alternate to the hub assembly.
  • The 2008 and later xB gen2 uses different numbers entirely. Matching by label alone can pull the wrong part.

Scion sold the xA for only three model years. The Scion xA wheel bearing catalog still shows the scars of that short run. Timken lumps the xA in with the xB under a single range label, and that label does not mean every number fits every car.

The xA’s main hub numbers

Two hub assemblies cover the car

Front is HA590165 and rear is HA594245, both for the 2004-2006 model years. These are complete hub assemblies with the bearing built in.

Timken also lists an optional ball bearing front number, 510062, as an alternate to the hub assembly.

Do not carry xB gen2 numbers onto an xA

Timken’s cataloged range for HA590165 runs 2004 through 2009. That is really a label for the whole gen1 platform the xA and first generation xB shared, and the xA itself only ran through 2006.

When the xB moved to its second generation in 2008, the numbers changed to 513257 and 512418. Those belong to the redesigned xB, never to an xA.

Shared roots with the Echo

The xA was built on the same platform as the Toyota Echo. The family resemblance shows up in the running gear, even though Toyota badges never carried it. Scion aimed the platform at younger buyers, but the mechanical bones underneath were proven Toyota economy car parts.

The xB, sold alongside the xA at the same dealers, is close enough in lineage that shoppers assume the parts interchange fully. The Scion xB earns its own listing anyway, because the two generations pull different numbers after 2007.

A light car with a light duty bearing

The xA was a small, light hatchback. Its wheel bearings were sized for that job, not for a heavier commuter sedan. That generally means a longer service life under normal driving, since the load across the bearing race stays modest.

Scion later replaced the xA with the Scion tC, a heavier coupe. Owners moving between the two should not expect the parts, or the wear pattern, to match.

Diagnosing a Scion xA wheel bearing

  1. Listen at speed. A worn bearing produces a steady hum or growl that rises and falls with vehicle speed, not engine RPM.
  2. Turn and listen for a change. Loading a bearing by turning the wheel to one side often makes the noise louder on that corner.
  3. Jack up the corner and check play. With the wheel off the ground, grab it at 12 and 6 o’clock and rock it. Looseness there points at the bearing, not the tire.
  4. Spin the wheel by hand. Grinding, roughness, or notchy resistance while spinning free usually means the races are pitted.
  5. Check for a warm hub after driving. A hub noticeably hotter than the others suggests the bearing is generating friction it should not.

Common questions

What is the Scion xA wheel bearing part number?

The front hub assembly is HA590165 and the rear is HA594245, both for 2004-2006. An optional ball bearing front number, 510062, is also listed as an alternate.

Do xA and xB wheel bearings interchange?

Only within the first generation xB, which shares the xA’s platform and catalog range. The 2008 and later xB gen2 uses a different set of numbers.

Is the xA wheel bearing a serviceable bearing or a hub assembly?

The primary listings are hub assemblies with the bearing sealed inside, front and rear. The one exception is the optional front ball bearing, 510062, which presses in as a separate part.

Does the xA share parts with the Toyota Echo?

The xA rides on the same platform as the Echo. Confirm any specific number through the cross reference before assuming a direct swap.

How long does a Scion xA wheel bearing typically last?

The xA is a light car, and light cars generally treat their wheel bearings gently. There is no fixed mileage figure in the catalogs, so watch for noise and play instead.

About this page

Wheel Bearing Editorial Team The Wheel Bearing Editorial Team researches, builds and edits wheelbearing.net. Every part number on the site is transcribed from manufacturer and distributor catalogs (Moog, Timken, SKF, National, BCA/NTN) rather than generated, and every vehicle page is checked against the catalog rows before it goes live. When two catalogs disagree, the page shows both readings and tells you to match the old part or the VIN. More about how this site is built.
