The short version
- A Crosstrek wheel bearing splits on a single build date inside the 2014 model year, the fifteenth of January.
- The front runs 2013 to 2019 once both catalogs are read together. A parallel BCA number sits behind every Moog row.
- The rear runs 2013 to 2018 on numbers both catalogs agree on. 2019 rear is the one span neither catalog documents.
- It shares its parts with the Impreza, since underneath they are the same car.
A model year is a marketing period, not an engineering one. Subaru changed the Crosstrek’s front hub partway through the 2014 production run, and the badge never mentioned it.
Two catalogs describe that change from different sides. Together they push the front’s real coverage out to 2019.
The build date split
Front listings cite 513303 for cars built through 14 January 2014 and 513413 for cars built from 15 January.
BCA carries the same split under two footnoted numbers, WE60548 for the early cars and WE61907 for the later ones. Both catalogs land on the same change, even though neither states the date outright.
The door jamb label carries the build month and year. That is what settles it, not the title or the registration.
The Fusion and the Impreza both carry the same kind of trap. Check the build date on any car from a changeover year.
One badge, two catalogs
Subaru dropped the XV prefix for 2016. The hub numbers carry straight across the name change with no break.
Every Moog number on this page also has a parallel BCA number behind it. The two describe the same part rather than competing with it.
A Crosstrek wheel bearing is all wheel drive across the whole range. Nothing here splits by drivetrain the way some Subaru pages do.
Match the number on the old part rather than picking a catalog by preference.

Lookups run through the cross reference page.
Every model year this chart resolves: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
512518 runs 2013 to 2017. WE61771, the parallel BCA number, runs one year further, to 2018. A 2017 or 2018 rear can show one number or two, depending on which catalog is in hand.
Neither catalog lists a 2019 rear number at all. The front reaches 2019 through BCA’s WE61907, but a 2019 rear goes by the old part or the VIN.
The Subaru knuckle problem
The front hub presses into a bare metal knuckle bore at a tight tolerance, and water reaches it easily.
Corrosion then locks the two together. That is why removal is the hard part of a Crosstrek wheel bearing job, not the fitting.
Clean the bore back to bare metal and measure it before fitting anything. Do not lubricate it, because the friction there is what resists creep once the new hub is seated.
A stuck circlip in that same bore is the other half of the corrosion problem. That is on the snap ring page. The front versus rear split is on the front versus rear page.
What raised ride height changes
This car sits higher than the Impreza it is based on. That shifts the load path slightly and puts the hub in the way of more road spray.
Owners who use it as intended, on gravel and in snow, see the water problem sooner than commuters do. That does not change which Crosstrek wheel bearing number applies, only how soon it gets asked for.
The press fit itself is covered on the press in page.
Diagnosing a Crosstrek wheel bearing
- Read the door jamb build date on a 2014 before ordering a front hub.
- Measure tread depth on all four tires, since all wheel drive punishes mismatches.
- Coast in neutral at the noise speed.
- Rock each wheel at twelve and six with it raised.
- Compare hub heat across each axle after a drive.
Those are on the checking page and the tire noise page.

Common questions
Which Crosstrek wheel bearing does a 2014 take?
It depends on the build date. Through 14 January is cited as 513303 and from 15 January as 513413. BCA’s parallel numbers follow the same split.
Where do I find the build date?
The label in the driver door jamb.
Does the rear go past 2018?
Not in either catalog. A 2019 rear has no documented number, so match it to the old part or the VIN.
Why will the old hub not come out?
Corrosion in a tight bare metal bore. That is the Subaru pattern at the front.
Do I need a press?
At the front yes. The rear is a bolt on hub and needs none.
