The short version

  • An X-Type wheel bearing order at the rear needs two pieces of information: which side, and whether the car has ABS.
  • Front is a press-in ball bearing, WB000003, for 2002-2007, which replaces the older HA590225 listing.
  • Rear on ABS cars is handed: HA599455L on the left, HA599455R on the right, 2002-2008.
  • Rear on non-ABS cars, 2002-2005 only, is HA599467, and that one fits either side.

Jaguar built the X-Type on Ford’s Mondeo platform, not on anything from the S-Type, and the parts bin reflects that split cleanly. Every X-Type wheel bearing number here stands on its own, unrelated to the rear-drive S-Type across the showroom floor.

Handed rears, front to back

Side and brake spec decide the rear

ABS-equipped X-Types use handed hub units, HA599455L for the left side and HA599455R for the right, covering 2002-2008.

Non-ABS cars, only built through 2005, use HA599467 instead, and that single number fits either side.

Side and brake spec, not just side

Ordering an X-Type wheel bearing for the rear by side alone is not enough. ABS cars need the handed HA599455L or HA599455R.

Non-ABS cars, built only through 2005, take HA599467 regardless of side. Check the ABS sensor page before ordering either one.

A superseded front number

The current front listing, WB000003, replaces an older catalog entry, HA590225. Both describe the same 2002-2007 press-in ball bearing, but the current number is the one to order by.

Front installation is a press job like most Jaguar applications, so plan shop time for it.

No relation to the S-Type

The X-Type rides on a front-drive and all-wheel-drive Mondeo platform, a different architecture from the rear-drive S-Type. Nothing on this page’s chart crosses between the two cars.

The wider Jaguar lineup is on the make page if another model needs checking.

Diagnosing an X-Type wheel bearing

  1. Identify the brake spec first. ABS and non-ABS X-Types take different rear hubs entirely.
  2. Confirm the side for an ABS car. HA599455L and HA599455R are mirror images, not interchangeable.
  3. Listen for a speed-linked drone. A worn X-Type wheel bearing hums louder with road speed, not engine RPM.
  4. Rock the wheel at twelve and six. Play in either direction points at the bearing.
  5. Rule out the tires. The tire noise page covers separating tire wear from a bad bearing.

Common questions

Can HA599455L be used on the right side instead?

No. It is a handed hub built as a mirror pair with HA599455R.

What rear bearing fits a non-ABS 2004 X-Type?

HA599467, which fits either side since non-ABS cars are not handed.

What replaced HA590225?

WB000003 is the current listing for the same 2002-2007 front press-in bearing.

Do X-Type and S-Type wheel bearings interchange?

No. They sit on different platforms with unrelated hardware.

Is the X-Type front bearing a press-in or bolt-on part?

Press-in. WB000003 is a ball bearing pressed into the knuckle, not a bolt-on hub.

About this page

Wheel Bearing Editorial Team The Wheel Bearing Editorial Team researches, builds and edits wheelbearing.net. Every part number on the site is transcribed from manufacturer and distributor catalogs (Moog, Timken, SKF, National, BCA/NTN) rather than generated, and every vehicle page is checked against the catalog rows before it goes live. When two catalogs disagree, the page shows both readings and tells you to match the old part or the VIN. More about how this site is built.
