The short version

  • The Solara wheel bearing chart hides handed rears: 512206 left, 512207 right, for 2004 to 2008.
  • Fronts are press-in balls: 510006 for 1999 to 2003, 510063 for 2004 to 2008.
  • The early rears split by ABS instead: 512310 with, 512311 without.
  • Everything is Camry and Avalon family hardware under the coupe body.

Toyota’s Camry coupe borrowed its sedan’s wheel ends, including one of the site’s rarer traps: rear hubs that come in a left and a right, and will not swap sides.

The handed rears

512206 left, 512207 right

The 2004 to 2008 rear Solara wheel bearing is handed: 512206 for the left side, 512207 for the right, agreed by three catalogs.

Name the side that hums before ordering; the boxes are not interchangeable.

Why handed hubs exist

Side matters on this rear axle

Toyota built the second Solara’s rear hubs side-specific, as it did the Camry and Avalon of the era.

A left hub on the right corner is a wrong part even though it may physically hang there.

The Camry underneath

Every row above serves the sedan family too, covered on the Camry page, which keeps a discontinued coupe’s parts common. The make overview is on the Toyota page.

The pressed fronts

Both generations press their front bearings into the knuckle behind a separate hub, Toyota practice of the era, per the press-in page. The rears bolt on.

Diagnosing a Solara wheel bearing

  1. Name the side before any late rear order.
  2. Check for ABS on an early car’s rear.
  3. Weave at speed and place the hum.
  4. Rock each wheel at twelve and six.
  5. Plan press work for a front.

The routine is on the checking page and the tire noise page.

About this page

Wheel Bearing Editorial Team The Wheel Bearing Editorial Team researches, builds and edits wheelbearing.net. Every part number on the site is transcribed from manufacturer and distributor catalogs (Moog, Timken, SKF, National, BCA/NTN) rather than generated, and every vehicle page is checked against the catalog rows before it goes live. When two catalogs disagree, the page shows both readings and tells you to match the old part or the VIN. More about how this site is built.
