The short version
- A Cruze wheel bearing splits on wheel size, which nothing else on this site does.
- 513315 is cited for cars on 15 inch wheels and 513316 for cars on 16 inch wheels.
- Engine tracks alongside it, with the 1.4 and 1.8 liter cars on 513315 and the 2.0 liter on 513316.
- So the quickest check is to read the tire sidewall before you order anything.
Wheel diameter is not usually a fitment question. Here it is, because the bigger wheel came bundled with a bigger brake and a different knuckle.
Read the wheel first
513315 is cited for 15 inch wheel cars and 513316 for 16 inch wheel cars at the front.
The number is printed on the tire sidewall after the profile, so it takes seconds to check.
Aftermarket wheels break this test. If the car is not on its factory wheels, work from the brake and the old part instead.

The Cruze Limited is not a trim
For 2016 General Motors sold both the outgoing car, badged Cruze Limited, and the all new Cruze at the same time.
The Limited follows the older listings, 512507 at the rear rather than 512589.
The Jeep Compass has the same trap in 2017, and it catches people the same way.
What a small car does to hubs
Light cars are gentle on bearings in normal use, so most failures here trace back to an event rather than to mileage.
A curb strike or a bad pothole does more damage on a small wheel with a short sidewall than it does on a larger one.
That is on the pothole page, and the make overview is on the Chevrolet page.
Diagnosing a Cruze wheel bearing
- Read the wheel size off the tire sidewall before ordering.
- Check whether it is a Limited if the car is a 2016.
- Weave at road speed and note which side loads the noise.
- Rock the wheel at twelve and six.
- Ask what it has hit, since impacts explain most failures here.
Those are on the checking page and the tire noise page.
Common questions
Does wheel size really change a Cruze wheel bearing?
Yes at the front. 513315 is cited for 15 inch wheels and 513316 for 16 inch.
My car is on aftermarket wheels. Now what?
Work from the brake size and the number on the old part instead.
What is a Cruze Limited?
The outgoing car sold alongside the new one in 2016. It follows the older part listings.
Does engine size matter?
It tracks with wheel size. The 2.0 liter cars are the 16 inch wheel cars.
Do I need a press?
No. These use bolt on hub units.
Why did mine fail at low mileage?
Impact damage is the usual cause on light cars. Ask what it hit.
Should I replace both sides?
Only what is worn.
